I have also read on some blog that “The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has indicated the possibility of a high tide of 5.01m & 5.05m on 23rd and 24th July 2009 respectively.” Keep it as a reminder. It’s even better if you can print it out and stick it on your fridge.

Quite true....

for few..its unforgettable and for few totally forgettable!

Just to shed light on few important events(apart from those you already mentioned)-

Crude oil prices went mountain height and made world economy(including INDIA) go turtle and then by dipping to sea level served as a catalyst to regain the momentum.

Indian Cricket team saw Two legends taking sanyas making way for youngsters to take the charge.

Delhi saw hat trick by electing Congress(Sheila Dikshit) back into power.

and most Importantly...SUMIT threw away his bachelorhood.

It has very bad effects on our atmosphere and weather.
The weather patterns are changing all over the world.

youth has always been the part of this mobilized society. Either it is JP movement or any violence in the society Youth has had a robust participation.

plastic and urban waste is spoiling our environment. I recently went to Madikeri, supposed to be one of the most beautiful places and to see the small & sleepy town being plundered of its natural beauty...it is heart rending. Trees, you will not believe, almost 5-6foot broad trunks (guess the age now! atleast a few hundred years!) are cut on the roadside and carried in trucks...how can they do this? and plastics strewn all over the place. Yucky to see such inane behaviour. And one must visit the mysore brindavan gardens t see what I mean by plastic contamination...the whole lake is full of plastic cans of sprite, coca cola, pepsi and fanta. How come these companies are not fined for the pollution they cause. why not give the job of cleaning and keeping the lake clean given to them...responsibility comes with accountability and this way we can solve the problem. just my thoughts. keep up, Shellie for such nice topics.

Nice one...reminds me of my grand dad. Fighting fit till he lived; left us when he was 79, and the 13th day celebrations post death was on his actual birthday, 1st of January and we welcomed the new year with his loving memories. Once, when he was 35years old in 1946, someone who suddenly met him on the road had asked him for financial help. He immediately donated all the 9rupees (+some change) he had in his pocket, and walked 11 miles to reach home! Even today my old relatives tell this incident with pride and my heart swells with pride and eyes become wet...they were all great people and let us dedicate a little part of our lives to such noble souls...

Good one. Global warming is a Global warning. Let me give you one curiously tragic example. And a true one. The electromagnetic radiation is affecting bees and other insects and literally killing them. This makes growth of smaller worms and affects pollination. This affects fruit formation and hence farm productivity and increases drought and fertility of land and hence growth of plants and thus affect rains...so let's all do whatever possible to save mother earth for the next generations...
